Private sector urges port fee cap in Senegal
Three private sector organizations in Senegal have called for an official cap on port fees and better competition regulation. According to Rewmi, the Union nationale des commerçants et industriels du Sénégal (UNACOIS), the Association des commerçants et industriels du Sénégal (ACIS), and the Collectif des entreprises et acteurs du transport et de la logistique du commerce sénégalais (CEATLCS) raised these issues on 7 October 2026 in Dakar. They argue that the current port fee structure and lack of competition regulation are harming local businesses and job security.
Impact Importers and logistics firms face potential cost reductions if port fees are capped.
